Program Goals:

Our CAD Certificate program course work focuses on training and equipping candidates with the technical knowledge and skills necessary for reading engineering CAD drawings and learning how to best provide support to mechanical engineers in advanced manufacturing. This training course covers essential topics such as manufacturing materials and processes, mechanical drafting, electromechanical drafting, basic metallurgy, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, blueprint reading as well as course work in technical communication. By the end of the program, graduates will have mastered various industry-standard CAD software computer programs and quality practices, positioning them for successful careers as CAD technicians or in technology-adjacent manufacturing roles.

What You Will Learn:

Upon completion of this Computer-aided Design (CAD) Certificate Program, graduates will be able to:

  • Exhibit proficiency in understanding how to work with computer-aided design (CAD) software programs, including AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Inventor
  • Apply fundamental mathematical and scientific concepts to help address design challenges
  • Understand the principles of product development through learning design process
  • Communicate technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Discern material properties and their relationship to manufacturing processes
  • Employ precise design methodology and industry-standard CAD software to enhance quality and production efficiency
  • Identify and manage product variability based on established quality control systems
